Sunday Smorgasbord & Let's Get Acquainted

Today is a double linky kind of day. First up is Sunday Smorgasbord with Michelle from Fabulous in First.

Yesterday my little guy & I tagged along with my dad & step-mom to take the dogs to the beach. It was an impromptu trip on our part, we stopped by for a visit & they asked if we wanted to go, which is why my little one is only in his diaper instead of a bathing suit. But he had fun watching all the dogs (we were at a dog beach), playing, & being with Nan & Grandpa.

We met these big cuties while there too. They were so sweet & my little man just loved the "BIG doggies" so much that he tried to follow them down the beach. I just love Great Danes & always wanted one & one day we will, which will make my hubby happy, he grew up with nothing but Great Danes.

And my saga on obtaining a full time teaching position continues. This "hiring season" I've gotten 4 interviews (the most I've ever gotten in a season). I had the chance to interview for a resource room position at our 3rd/4th grade building, which happened almost a month ago & I still haven't heard anything. Now that building has another position open & come to find out a teacher from my building interviewed for the position, along with 3 part-timers in the district. Now for me this is a dream come true, I would love for the teacher from my building to get the job because I WOULD LOVE a classroom position in my building. So right now I'm full of anxiety & hoping this will work out the way I'm hoping it will.

Join me on Wednesday for my B2S (Back-to-School) Mixer Linky party. You can link up anytime during the month of August. It's a mixer so you can share any random things about you that we might not know just from reading your blog. As we ourselves prepare Getting-to-Know-You & ice breaker activities this will be a fun way for us to get to know more about each other.

The next linky I'm joining today is Mrs. Reed from Flying into First's Let's Get Acquainted Linky & this week's topic is Upcoming School Year Goals.

Implement Guided Math more effectively. I went to a workshop hosted by my district's math coach on Guided Math & my eyes have been opened. Apparently it is not as lengthy as Guided Reading, you're only suppose to spend 5-15 minutes with a group. I feel like this is more manageable now. The centers portion I have that down, it was the pulling groups part that I was struggling with.

Guided Reading. Who isn't forever tweaking their approach or organization system for Guided Reading? Every year I feel that it ends up looking different for me & that's even as the year progresses. This year I want to find what works for us at the beginning of the year & stick with  it.

I want to be more organized this year. My room is already pretty organized, yet I always end up with piles of stuff laying all over, especially behind my table & it bugs the tar out of me. AVOID the piles, this is my goal!

I can't wait to read your Sunday Smorgasbord posts & your goals for this year. AND I hope you'll link up with me starting Wednesday for the B2S Mixer!!!

Sunday Smorgasboard & Back-to-School Blogger Exchange

I'm linking up with Michelle from Fabulous in First for her Sunday Smorgasbord linky.
Here are some of my randoms from the week & boy are they random.

{First}

I'm joining in with Covered in Glitter and Glue and Adventures of Ms. Smith for a great Back to School Blogger exchange. Click the links for either of these lovely ladies blogs or the picture below to sign-up to be a part of this fun exchange. I've already signed up, I hope you will too!!!

 {Second}

During my lunch break the other day I was wandering around Wal-Mart & came across my favorite sight. I LOVE back-to-school supplies, I think it has to do with the newness of the supplies & the whole idea of a fresh start.

{Third}

I caved & went to Target this week to see what I could find in the Dollar Spot. Not everything back-to-school is out yet, but I was able to score some pretty sweet stuff, plus some clearance tops.

{Fourth}

In camp this week we had some exploding volcano mess fun. I know they're not the prettiest volcano's but the kids were really into making them & had a lot of fun seeing how much baking soda & vinegar it would take to get a good explosion. See my little cuties face in the top left picture. They really enjoyed this part!!!

{Fifth}

My little guy got another summer haircut on Saturday. He's like his dad & easily sweats. Grosses me out (oops, am I not suppose to say that?) So I think it's practical & more comfortable for him to have his hair buzzed off. It's a little shorter this time, then when my hubby took him at the beginning of the summer, but he still looks cute!

{Sixth}

Today I bought my little cutie the Little People Wheelies Loops N' Swoops Amusement Park Play Set.
This is what it looks like & he's really into it. So right now you might be asking yourself, "Aww that's nice, but this is definitely random." Here's where I'm going with this...I had Little People when I was younger (circa late 80's/early 90's, when I was really into my Little People) & this is what my Little People looked like:

Boy have they changed in 20-some years. Maybe I'm a little biased, but I like mine better. I remember playing with it for hours. Driving the cars around town and moving the little people in & out of the stores, changing the traffic light, & sitting in the ice cream shop window, & you can't forget dropping the mail cards through the door. Plus you could turn it around & have the point of view from inside the store. I  LOVED MY LITTLE PEOPLE & seeing this picture, I found on the web, really makes me miss it. I wonder what happened to it? Now I wish I would of kept it. Oh by the way, this toy is considered vintage. Vintage! I'm vintage now? Oh dear!

I can't wait to see what randomness you have to share with us, don't forget to link up with Michelle.

Have a great week!!!
